My only concern is the speeding that occurs in Genstar Ln. The apartment complex is the best rated in the zip code and I'm glad I decided to stay here. The area is pretty safe, considering the diversity of families, and students living in the area. There are a lot fast food options in the area, and some hole-in-the-wall places that should be checked out. I honestly can't complain. I would live in this area when I get out of college. I enjoy the atmosphere of families, there are many options for schools, and I enjoy the ample amount of retail and food options.
I have lived in this area for almost 4 years now. I used to live here when I lived with my parents and in I moved into an apartment by myself.
I love the area. I'm super close to pretty much everything you can think of: I've literally got about 10 different places to choose to eat that wouldn't take me longer than 10 minutes to get to. There are 3 malls close to where I source. There are also plenty of theatres to choose. I feel like the overall quality of activities to do in the area are great to choose from.
I know that they are planning on renovating the Willowbend mall and I can see that really improving the quality of night life in the area. I've also heard rumors that Plano is building it's a wine tasting bar, which sounds like fun! Very quiet, but also has plenty of food options. Surrounding the white rock lake which has lake front views.
Not sure of the exact address, but it's cheaper housing, full of young singles, and close to both White Rock, Katy Trail, and SMU for track workouts. Not just beer but kombucha, cider, and root beer on tap too! Some forums can only be seen by registered members.

The downtown area especially has been built up in the last few years. One can see that Dallas is becoming more conscious of its environment. There are always good restaurants and shows to go to.
The only thing I wish was better, is late night attractions. Besides concerts, most things close at 9, so that the teenager crowd isn't offered much to do that doesn't require one to spend money. My neighborhood is suspicious of anyone that looks like they don't belong and call the police often on people just to make sure they aren't up to anything bad.
